The F1 Movie Soundtrack: Efficient!
The music supervision team of the F1 movie opened their favorite Excel sheet: “Music people trending that will definitely bring us a lot of cash.”
They called everyone on the list. They asked songwriters, producers, singers one thing and one thing only: “Make a hit.”
The list of artists is world-class: Hans Zimmer, Doja Cat, Tate McRae, Raye, Ed Sheeran...
It's simple: the soundtrack sounds like the Spotify top 50 USA.
Is it impressive in creativity? No.
Does it work for me? Absolutely!
Some blockbuster playlists can honestly be sooooooo booooooooring. Not bad, not good. Just deeply mediocre.
Like the soul was taken away. Kind of a: sell me your soul, I’ll give you a Grammy type of deal.
This time, I think it works well. From electronic tracks with aggressive and polished sound design, to soul, to country, to rock, to trap... They didn’t choose. They took everything. The music had to appeal to E.V.E.R.Y.O.N.E.
It's the definition of "Mainstream" to appeal to a large number of people. Who can blame them?
We even have an original score from Hans Zimmer himself.
Focus on him, actually:
He delivered.
No crazy sound design, no specific instruments created for the movie, nothing like that. But the movie didn't need it.
It’s ALL good. Not every movie needs layers.
This movie certainly doesn't have any! Everything you think will happen, happens. It's guaranteed no surprise.
This movie is like going for a **döner,** but a really good one.
Simple. Satisfying. Comfy.
I'm happy to see Hans go back to his synthesiser days.
The beat carries the track, the melody is pretty catchy, and it has tension.
It's really the recipe of minimal complexity for higher impact, and I believe it was the right decision.
And the blending of electric guitar with the orchestration is pretty cool, I am not gonna lie.
The movie also has a stellar Dolby mix.
If you can see it in the theatre, gooooo. Just for the sound of the car engine.
I don't know much about cars, but I like the sound of them.
The movie is the classic case of: simple idea, sleek execution.
They followed the rules by the book and made no faux pas.
It promised to be entertaining, and I was entertained the whole time.
Also, Brad Pitt.
